Recycle at School
Start a School Recycling Program
One practical, relatively easy way to introduce students to the benefits of waste reduction and recycling is to implement a school recycling program. A well-developed and well-run recycling program can help your students learn more about conservation and make a difference. Contact Rumpke or CSI for information on recycling and composting options.
Education & Outreach
We no longer provide in-classroom environmental education programs. However, we can provide you with several resources for programs and information. MORE
Recycling Grants Program
We award grants to schools interested in providing sustainable waste reduction and recycling activities. You can use grant funds to purchase new recycling containers for your school, subsidize recycling pick-up costs and develop promotional materials for your recycling program. Applications are available in the fall and due in mid-December.
The School Recycling Program Guide offers step-by-step instructions on how to start or improve a recycling program at your school and apply for a grant.
Bottle & Can Recycling at Special Events
We loan containers for special events (carnivals, festivals, etc.) through the "We Got Plans for Your Bottles and Cans" Program. Contact us at (513) 887-3653 to request containers for an upcoming event.
Paper & Aluminum Can Recycling
The following program can help your school earn money through recycling:
- The Abitibi Paper Retriever Program helps organizations earn money through paper recycling. Abitibi will place a 7-cubic-yard container at your facility, pick up the paper and pay your organization. For details, visit Abibiti or call (513) 242-3617.
Contact Solid Waste District Coordinator Anne Fiehrer Flaig at (513) 887-3963 or email FiehrerFlaigEA@butlercountyohio.org to request recycling information and promotional materials to share with your students.
